Dr. Nazmeen Shameem is an accomplished Australian-trained dual specialist with extensive expertise in rehabilitation medicine and pain management. She began her clinical career in Australia with an internship and residency at the prestigious Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where she laid the foundation for her clinical acumen. Her early career included radiation oncology training at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, where she gained valuable experience in managing cancer-related pain.
In 2018, Dr. Shameem pursued advanced training in rehabilitation medicine across leading Sydney hospitals, including Mater Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, and Concord Hospital. Her expertise spans general, geriatric, neuro-rehabilitation, spinal cord injuries, amputee care, musculoskeletal disorders, and burns rehabilitation.
Her clinical interests include managing complex musculoskeletal disorders, neuro-rehabilitation, pain management, and treatment of spasticity. She is committed to further advancing her expertise in joint injections, ultrasound-guided botulinum toxin injections, and interventional pain management techniques, with the aim of delivering innovative and comprehensive care to her patients.
Dr. Shameem’s dedication to pain medicine led her to begin her pain training at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She expanded her expertise at the MJC Pain and Research Centre, Royal North Shore Hospital, and Nepean Cancer Centre. Her work encompasses managing chronic and complex patients with non-cancer and cancer-related pain, as well as providing compassionate care in palliative settings for patients with multifaceted needs.
