Derek Quann

Derek is a Physiotherapist who specialises in pain management. He graduated from the University of Sydney with a Masters degree in Physiotherapy.

Derek is the Senior Physiotherapist at the Westmead Hospital Chronic Pain Service, servicing the entire Western Sydney Local Health District. He facilitates pain management group programs and multidisciplinary pain assessments on top of providing tailored patient and staff education. Over the past decade, Derek has been honing his experience in chronic pain. This includes working as a physiotherapist in interdisciplinary pain clinics in the South East of Sydney and in neurological, gerontological rehabilitation, community health, complex and chronic care in Western Sydney and the Central Coast, as well as setting up pain management in multiple aged and palliative care facilities across NSW. Derek is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and is part of the special interest group for pain management. He is also a contributor in persistent pain specific working parties in the Agency of Clinical Innovation.

Derek is currently completing a further Masters in Pain Management through the University of Sydney. Derek is also an avid martial arts practitioner and coach and has represented Australia in international competitions. He promotes an active lifestyle and has provided physiotherapy services during Youth Olympics for Team Tonga. Derek aims to restore thoughtless, fearless movement for people in pain and empowers them towards achieving their goals.
